Fail Until You Suc(seed)

Spirit Garden: Sunflowers and two types of Tobaccos
Maturing Mother Plant
Here's to 10 Weeks of Learning:

1.  Do plant another crop every week.  Succession planting was something I didn't do so well with this summer.  I am learning from my mistake and have been planting at least one new crop per week since.
2.  Don't  get discouraged.  You can only control so much and the plants are on their own schedule.  The first year is the hardest.  Mistakes have been made and will be made again.
3.  Do order supplies in bulk and advance such as plastic produce bags, labels, etc.  It will cut down on costs and everything helps.  Reusing is the best!
4.  Don't get caught up in politics.  Farmer's Market Associations and Cities they occupy don't always get along.  Especially in tourist towns.  There are always 2 sides to a story and the best thing I found to do was just appreciate the moment and the customers who are buying from you today.
5.  Do have enough change before going to the market.  Simple and Basic, but a pain if forgotten!
6.  Don't  wait until the last minute for anything!  Everything takes twice as long as you would think.  Be prepared in advance.
7.   Do appreciate the business from anyone.
8.  Don't  forget to say thank you.
9.  Do accept help and show your appreciation for it.
10.  Don't leave book-keeping for next week.  Get it done as soon as market is finished.  Keep records.  Stay organized.

11.  Maximize harvest potential, get to know the other foodies in the neighborhood, and get familiar with how to prepare the product you are selling.
12.   Trade when you can and when it feels good to do so.
13.  Sell when you can and when it feels good to do so.
14.  Communicate!  You never know what others are thinking and what they have been through.
15.  Sell it for what its worth!  Add in hourly pay for yourself.

"An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching."

Gandhi’s top 10

I came across a blog that listed Gandhi’s Top 10 Fundamentals for Changing the World.
1. Change
“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.”
2. Control.
“Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”

3. Forgiveness

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
“An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”

4. Action.

“An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.”

5. The present moment.

“I do not want to foresee the future. I am concerned with taking care of the present. God has given me no control over the moment following.”

6. Everyone is human.

“I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps.”
“It is unwise to be too sure of one’s own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.”

7. Persist.

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

8. Goodness.

“I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others.”
“I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.”
9. Truth
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
“Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.”
10. Development.
“Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.”

I found this on one of my favorite author's websites today...I couldn't help but share it.
